Scott Rosenfield

Scott Rosenfield is the chief operating officer at The Atlantic. In 2024, the magazine turned profitable, hit one million subscriptions, and won General Excellence at the National Magazine Awards for the third year running.

Before The Atlantic, Scott was site director at WIRED, where he launched the Get WIRED app and podcast, expanded review coverage, and grew the affiliate business. He also led planning to scale the editorial team around subscription growth.

Earlier, he served as digital general manager at Outside. The publication grew significantly under his watch: record revenue, audience gains, and launches including an affiliate business, a subscriber newsletter, and new digital ad products.

Scott is also on the board of Re:Public, a new non-profit newsroom focused on public lands.

Scott has been on bikes most of his life. He raced as a junior and later coached. At Northwestern, he rode for the cycling team and cofounded a national publication covering collegiate racing. He once finished last in the road race at collegiate nationals. More recently, he's helped run Cadence, a cycling retreat for executives.
